8,500+ More Meals for the Kids!!!

IMG_6771

In just one day of frenetic activity, Mamou has managed to raise the equivalent of over 8,500 full meals for the feeding program at the Tenement Elementary School in Taguig! THAT IS SIMPLY AMAZING. A rather full lunch time crowd turned into a jampacked first seating in the evening, followed by another full second seating for dinner, with some others squeezing in whenever possible! With the rains ceasing early evening, all the outdoor tables were full as well. And obviously, everyone decided to drop their diets for the day as the food consumption must have been something else! We got there at the tail end of the first dinner seating, to see several friends, acquaintances, marketmanila.com readers and previous eyeball guests finishing up their meals. They were swiftly replaced with another wave of diners, and I was thrilled to note so many participated in the market basket raffle (winner to be contacted soon by email). But the real kudos go to MAMOU’s Malou, Oye and Annie and their wonderful crew of 21, who did an amazing thing by choosing to make their 3rd anniversary an opportunity to do something so special and generous for others in need. On behalf of the kids at the Tenement Elementary School, thank you. As if that wasn’t enough, the Mamou crew sent every single patron home with a red velvet cupcake from Sonja’s, the final sweet note to a wonderful meal.

  1. Happy 3rd year anniversary Mamou! May God bless you more so that you’ll continue to be a blessing to others! :))

  2. Very cool. I wish I was home to do a good deed by enjoying a great meal. Win win indeed!

  3. May God gives (all of you who are involved in the feeding program) continous blessings and grace. I know how helping out feels. I have a monthly children’s ministry in two villages in QuezonProvince. They are managed and facilitated by 9 great volunteer teacher/ministers. I come home to Phils. every year and “party” with the kids on their graduation day and start a new Sunday School Year. Once a month, they have a Bible class with lots of singing and reading, and afterwards the children are fed. This has been going on for 3 years and the joy and love that I feel everytime I get a feedback from the teachers is so euphoric. I know its all God, for I myself cannot do it, I mean I started it, but its the people there in the Philippines who are continously doing the work. The church here in Houston has seen what I have been doing and they are continously giving me support for the cause, and they have provided not only canned goods but also school supplies and clothes for the children and adult alike. Again, thank you all and Thank You God for people like MM.

  4. happy anniversary to mamou! and congratulations re: fundraising efforts! wish i could’ve gone

  5. This is really heart warming. It is really nice to know that there are a lot of people out there who are willing to give their share in making things better for those kids… one meal at a time… God bless to all!
