Best Pacquiao, Ever!!!

Congratulations to Manny Pacquiao on winning his fight against Miguel Cotto a few hours ago… After all of the bad news that has befallen the Philippines in recent months, finally an incredible day of national pride as Filipinos at home and around the globe watched Manny pummel and outwit his opponent. Boohoo for Puerto Rico. :) Yehey for the Philippines, at least this time around. He’s probably going to walk away with close to a billion pesos in prize money, endorsements, cable TV revenues and if I were him, I would retire having been the only boxer in the history of the sport to win in seven different weight divisions. But then again, I suppose he will be doing at least one more fight with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. if only to bank another billion plus pesos more, win or lose on that one. CONGRATULATIONS, MANNY PACQUIAO!!! Oh, and my favorite of the insufferable advertisements that played for hours during the fight on local television, the San Miguel ad where Manny is reading the menu, and orders some “Roasted Highland Legumes” and what arrives at the table is described as “isang platitong mani” (a dish of salted peanuts). Hahahaha.

  1. ….nor a career in singing, although i give him an A for effort..he’s giving a post-game concert at Mandalay Bay where he wil “sing” 8 songs!! but i’m so overjoyed and so proud by the win!!!!

  2. best fight ever! my vocal cords are still suffering but it was so totally worth it. pacman puts philippines on the map again. Go pinoy!

  3. Woohoo! Mabuhay ka Manny!

Honestly though, this was one highly undisciplined fight by Pac. He did a lot of uncharacteristic things out there that it was quite frustrating to watch. He took lots of unnecessary shots too. But still he dominated, which is just amazing. Congrats Manny! You did your country proud once again.

On another note, please pray for Z Gorres who is still in a coma after his fight on Friday (Sat in the Phils.)

  4. Should’ve bought a ticket at TGI Fridays. I didn’t think it would be worth the 750 pesos, but it was. Pacquiao proved a lot today. More substantive than the de la Hoya win.

  5. Isang platitong mani is more decriptive, MM.
I am beginning to think those who fight Manny are only in it for the money.

  6. Not a brilliant finish since Cotto wasn’t knocked-out unconscious… But damn, he painted Cotto’s face with blood… PacMan’s one helluva fighter.

    I just wish he’d stop singing everytime he’s got a TV interview… lol…

  7. Best Asian Boxer EVER!!!!. We could look up to his hard work and dedication. Pilipinas sipag at tiyaga in a real sense.

  8. First, it was the Best Lechon Ever for The Philippines over Puerto Rico
Now, its the Best Boxer Ever for The Philippines over Puerto Rico!!!!

    MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS!!!

  9. Mo’ Manny… Mo’ Problem…

    – Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Brits

Soon enough, if Mayweather would fight PacMan, the afro-americans would say the same thing… lol

  10. Viva Pacquiao! The best boxer ever! Today is indeed an incredible day of national pride for us Filipinos…despite of our ailing economy…may he and his victory continue inspiring and bolstering our peoples spirit and consciousness…Viva Pacquiao! Viva Filipinas!
I wanna see him finish the arrogant Mayweather Jr. in three rounds! Pero bukod kay Pacquio saludo ako at dapat kilalanin din pagpapakumbaba ng kanyang nagaping Portoriqquenong si Cotto!!! Yan ang tunay na lalake tumatanggap ng pagkatalo! Suyod lamang and katapat ng Cotto! Hwehe! Eh sa Miss Universe kaya? kailan ulet kaya naten pakakinin ng alikabok ang mga Latina? Hehehe!

  11. great fight Manny! watched every minute of the fight… including all the commercials. hahhaha. totally worth it!

  12. Pacman is the Best!

If Mayweather chickens out of a future bout, I suggest Manny and Freddie take up tennis and start beating them Wimbledon guys!

  13. Napaos ako kanina kakasigaw Manny, ang lupit mo!!!!truly an awesome boxer!!! 100% PINOY POWER!!! Seriously, it was a great fight and I must say, even though Cotto could barely stand Manny’s blows and his team’s asking him if he wants to back down-he didn’t. I think that says a lot about the guy.

Anyway, this was a good day for all filipinos. isang araw na walang pulitika-low crime rate, walang trapik, walang network war, at kung anu-ano pa. Today, we are just proud to be who we are-PINOY. Today we are one.

    congrats again manny

  14. Mabuhay si Pacquiao and Pinas!

Now he better quit while the going is good, in my opinion. I want him to go into his retirement with an intact brain. A good number of reports of brain hemorrhage or dementia pugilistica among boxers and football players should not be ignored. It is saaaad. Then what good is your fame and your billions?

Remember Boom Boom Mancini and Duk-Koo Kim bout in the early 80’s? The picture of the Korean boxer dropping stiff on the ring after being hit so many times in the head is still clearly etched in my memory! and I knew I will never look at boxing ever again, no matter that they changed the boxing rules later due to that tragic incident.

  15. Oh, I forget. Z Gorres still lies unconscious last time I heard from his bout the other night. Let us hope for the best, but I don’t even want to imagine.

  16. what was interesting was how Pac allowed Cotto to hammer away at his body and head in the 3rd and 4th. Para bang to say…”kaya ko ‘to…’ala ka na bang ibubuga? ” super risky and I don’t think roach scripted it that way. Told me 2 things…..1) Manny wanted to silence detractors who said he couldn’t take a true welterweights punch …..and I’m sure that helped break Cotto’s will and mental game….and 2) if it wasn’t in roach’s game plan…Manny at still fights with his heart. he wanted to give fans a good fight, even if it meant taking punishment. people’s champ talaga thru and thru.

I have to give Miguel Cotto props…such a gentleman and proud warrior. Never talked smack, always respectful. Kagalang-galang. worthy of so much admiration….we forget, he schooled Zab Juddah a while back. Kawawa ang mga anak niya to witness their dad get savaged like that.

    Mabuhay Manny!!!!!

  17. I saw an FB post saying that Manny had a party/concert with his band after while Cotto was brought to the trauma center. Wawa. I couldn’t stand watching Cotto’s kid and wife while he was being pummeled by Pacman. I hope and pray this never happens to Manny ever.

Manny, you are d’ beest talaga!

  18. Watched the fight with my boys 19 and 13 who both lived most of their growing years away from the Philippines. One nice bonus is to see that they exuded pride in their heritage after Manny’s win, which i had to take advantage of and instill in them that no matter what ethnicity you belong to, dedication and hard work on your chosen field pays major dividend. Then i remember my youthful promise to myself to be a cool dad when my time comes, so I did a full 360 on that “no matter what ethnicity speech..” and just blurted out pinoys rock my sons pinoys rule!

  19. Manny is really good but his talents could be put to waste if he does not concentrate on boxing. He seems to be into everything these days. I think the movies and politics will be the end of him. He could have easily put Cotto to sleep but he was not that “hungry”. Too many diversions?

  20. If I may quote Erik Morales: “Wala kang katulad, Manny!” God bless you Mr. Pacquiao! You are a very humble individual and you never take the credit for your awesome achievements! You always dedicate your victories to the Filipino people and you are a real devout Christian.

  21. i don’t think the pacquiao/mayweather fight is ever going to happen because that would mean that floyd would have to say YES to that fight. well, floyd’s been dodging that encounter for years. if you guys remember, floyd’s retirement came right before cotto was in line to fight him. floyd was running away from cotto back then. so if at first he was afraid of our manny, i bet he’s now petrified. hehehe.

  22. i don’t think Mayweather would fight Pacquiao. and i hope Pacquiao retires, put up his own boxing school and live a quiet life (haha)…wish ko lang yon. boxing is a dangerous sport–see what happened to Z Gorres.

  23. can’t wait to see that Nike commercial where Manny is going to be featured together with Kobe Bryant and Maria Sharapove..he’s big time!

  24. Awesome fight. Congratz to Manny! Cotto did better than Hatton by managing to stay up until round 11. We will know when Pacquiao VS Mayweather will happen once both parties agree to the earnings split.

  25. I respect everyone’s opinion about Manny not suitable for politics; however, he has the right to enter it if he wants to. Manny or no Manny, nobody can change our political landscape anyway. Politics is there for an opportunity to enrich the politicians, sad but true.

  26. Manny the Greatest Boxer of all time. 7 different divisions.
Manny please don’t enter the politics. You’re bigger than any
politicians in the Philippines. You’re the pride of every Filipino.
Please do not degrade yourself and go down to the politician’s level.
Even if you mean well, people will still think otherwise. You have all
the money you need and if you really want to help the country all you have
to do is tell the President or the Senator or whoever and if they don’t listen,
say it to the media. People will listen to you.

  27. Did anyone notice Savit Chingchon? Langya sumabit na naman, he must be the one always convincing Manny to run for office..Or i guess he’s just one of the many who wants his fame and fortune.

  28. Makes you feel really proud that your a pinoy. It was like Hagler-Hearns during the first four rounds! after that, it was all Manny. But I personally like his first alias- The Destroyer. and like I always say, That’s why we call him THE Destroyer. My hats off to Miguel Cotto as well. What a class act
