For Regulars Only…

:) Yes, I am still alive and kicking. And I do visit the blog once a day or so. And for those who can’t live without a rant, head back to this relatively recent post I wrote on Cafe Elysa in Cebu, and read comment #25 and the whole post to see the full context. I was bored, in an airport lounge for several wee hours of the morning with jetlag and unlimited access to WIFI so I decided to respond to the new commenter. I admit the response may have been a bit much or OTT, but I didn’t want to get rusty. And you know me, I rarely do it unprovoked. So if you are in for a bit of minor ranting, please read this post and comments if you have nothing better to do with your time. Please don’t join the fray, just read it and leave it. Regards, MM. :)

  1. It is just about past 7 in the morning here and I just read “For Regulars only” so I went back
to your old post and comment and when I saw the first picture I started to pine for it and continued reading and my God I was drooling and wanting the food you mentioned and described plus with all those pictures I was so hungry . Being used to your comments and writings your description of the place was just honest and down to earth opinion. So I find it so funny that there is this “fish” for the fishpan again. To the “new diner” here comes
the rantings……..By the way, I love it when you come and write once in a while.

  2. Nothing like a good retort to get the juices flowing. MM, I am just so grateful and delighted that you are not abandoning us. Hijo, tu-od cong capoy ca na, a weekly blog will do.

  3. MM. asa man diay ka? Are you in the US for an assignment too good to refuse? Just wondering. Wherever you are, may the Lord bless you and keep you always. I will be in the US too on Sept 19-Oct 17. Our paths might cross. Hahaha.

  4. what a relief to see you are back albeit briefly. i still check on the blog several times a day. BTW do you mean comment #25 “new diner” on the original post since #23 was from “al” who made a comment regarding the structure of the restaurant (being new and not old??)
    don’t leave us orphans MM!!!!

  5. Nothing better with a good cup of coffee than a good laugh!

And so true, I already made a mental note that if I find myself in Cebu, I would check out Cafe Elysa…

  6. oh well.. I get worse nasty comments on my blog, not worth approving! But least you gave that commentator a good fish pan whacked! Hello from Porto Cervo.

  7. Si MM o, hindi nakatiis. :) Ako din hindi nakatiis mag-check ng blog kahit na alam kong “on a sabbatical” ka and at 4:30am I am rewarded by a rant. Good things really do come to those who wait!

  8. When MM announced his sabbatical, i actually posted and egged on the lurkers to unite and show some MM love. But I really knew deep inside that all it takes is a fishpan alert and our hero will make his presence felt again :)

Slow and steady MM, take your time and enjoy your “leave” (i still consider you on leave until you say otherwise) – in the meantime, more fishpan nominees are most welcome…

  9. really bad for some people to just take things out of context. she was clearly not a regular on this blog or she would have known better. so sad…..

  10. Welcome back, I must admit I didn’t post anything, hoping you would come back to post. You did! As a side note there was another commenter (commentor?) who had the initial j . I would agree with marissewalangkaparis, when she said slow down if you’d like, but some of us would like you to continue on… even just once a month!.
    Another fishpan award eh!!!

  11. MM, even on sabbatical you post more regularly than a lot of bloggers on “regular programming” ( at least, of the 16 that I have on my bookmark toolbar) I hope you keep this pace going… it’ll save a lot of readers from a dreadful withdrawal =)

  12. Love your coming out of the woods, with your fishpan in hand!!! [;-)

Hey guys, why don’t we have some fun making up the reason why MM is hibernating…..here’s mine….MM is busy doing some screen test as the next james bond!!! hehehehe…you can hit me with the fishpan too, MM.

  13. Just got a copy of Travel and Leisure, Joel! Am sure more of such write ups will be coming. I still keep checking MM daily. No problem. I have a lot of patience. Will wait until you’re in the mood for daily posts again!

  14. MM, you may be on sabbatical but the fishpan is not. Really glad you’re back.

    “err-regulars” beware!

  15. my 90 year old mom gave me two male grabs from fti. tired of the usual fried/steamed, i looked up your alimango in sotanghon. delish!!! thank you.

  16. Hi. MM! I don’t know if someone had already posted this comment but since you’re in semi-retirement, I hope you would consider compiling all your posts in a book? Call me old fashioned but I still like the feel of a book in my hands every so often. You can also use part of the proceeds of the book sales for your charities… I’m sure there are a lot of people who are willing to support you. :)

  17. Well, some people are just like that. I can tell that New Diner did not even read the whole post. It was a constructive criticism for me, not a biased review. But anyway, thanks for updating your blog.

  18. Well, well, well, now he/she knows what naive is. That’s the reason why I love this blog, you’re a very honest blogger, MM.

  19. awesome! what a classic reply.

i’ve only been to cebu, once. of course, we didn’t know about this place. then again, we didn’t know much about the area. i hope to visit cebu again and go to this restaurant whenever we make it to the philippines, again. whenever that is.

    good to see you back!
