MarketManila Tote Bags Are Done!!!

bag1

Several hundred marketmanila t-shirts were finished last week. Yesterday, we picked up a couple hundred cacha “SUKI” bags. Yahoo! They are really nice. I am so pleased. And they will definitely be wiped out. Thank you to Lee for the design, thanks to Marie, the reader who suggested the tote bags, thanks to my sister-in-law for arranging to have them made. I have arranged feeding programs with one public school in Cebu and am in final talks with a public school in Taguig. So almost everything is in place for the charity t-shirt drive. The one last problem is that my pick-up points have not been confirmed. I originally thought the Salcedo Market was a sure thing, but they haven’t given me a final answer despite formally writing them nearly 3 weeks ago. I think Barangay elections messed up the timing a bit. No worries. I will finalize everything by the middle of next week and do a post by Wednesday, 14 November 2007. Thanks for being so patient. I am pulling my hair out with the logistics. NO RESERVATIONS PLEASE, distribution details will be posted next week.

  1. MM, I want one of these tote bags! naka-reserve na ba lahat? sana di pa. can’t wait for your booth in salcedo market. see you soon!

  2. Me too, MM! Ang ganda pala.
Please reserve a piece for me please (plus 2 pcs tshirts in black).
    Thanks!

  3. Just to be OC about it, my original order is: 1 Suki tee & 1 Marketmaniac tee (both black, if men’s size, M; if ladies’ L) and one tote bag. (I’m gonna color in the suki logo with fabric paint for a colorful and kakaiba look. :) Pick up for me is Makati. Thanks!

  4. It’s amazing, I can not wait for the next week’s post, i hope i could grab the two tote bags.

  5. MM, could you provide more info about the feeding program, i.e. how many kids, what age/grade, what will you feed them (breakfast, lunch, snack?). Just curious-it may help us with our own small project. Aside from giving the kids near our house transpo money, last Monday we started to provide them with a simple baon (sandwich, hardboiled eggs, etc.)

  6. Ay sayang, We sell cacha bags too and I was planning on sending you one with your logo pa naman! =(

  7. I am a new fan of your website and am thoroughly enjoying it. Would it be possible to have an archives or a listing of your old write-ups? Surely I would enjoy reading them too.

  8. MM

Just confirming my reservations for a t-shirt and a tote bag! I can’t believe your timing…. a great birthday gift for myself. YES!!!!!!

  9. MM,

Just read about the no reservations…. gosh, must wake early to make it first to the line. I reckon the line will be longish.

  10. I’m not into clothes (despite being a girl), but bags – those I like :) I hope there is a pick up point in QC or Ortigas.

  11. naku!! i will have to wake up early to get the shirt and the tote bag. i bet parang line during school registration yan!

  12. the tote bags seem durable enough to carry heavy stuff like delatas from the grocery or prutas, gulay from the market…like the design too, it’s nice and simple.

  13. I’ve been following ur site for sometime now. I didnt know what to make out of it but now I realize that it really is geared for commerce. Sad how people use charity as an excuse to sell jams, marmalades – even tote bags. Grabe

  14. MM,I do hope that your pick-up points are somewhere not too snooty. Makati is okay if that is feasible for you. Pero sana yung madaling puntahan at hindi naman kailangan mag-taxi pa (like pwedeng lakarin for work without fear of getting mugged somewhere at hindi masyadong malayo sa main thoroughfare). Stores along Ayala would be nice. Thanks.

P.S. How much are the bags?

  15. Very nice. Gosh, when we all line up to get the items, chances are high we’ll bump into each other, too! Then I’ll have to guess which one is….

  16. EMILALVA,

YOU ARE A FIRST TIME COMMENTER AND NOT SURE IF YOU LEFT AN ADDRESS. BUT IF, AS YOU SAY, YOU HAVE BEEN READING THIS BLOG FOR SOME TIME, THEN HOW CAN YOU IN ANY WAY SAY THAT IT HAS A COMMERCIAL SIDE TO IT? THE T-SHIRT AND TOTE PROGRAM IS RAISING FUNDS FROM READERS AND 100%, I REPEAT 100% OF THE FUNDS GO STRAIGHT TO THE PUBLIC SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMS. I GIVE DONORS A GIFT IF THEY WANT IT. SO FAR, I HAVE SPENT PHP65,000 OF MY OWN MONEY AND THAT IS MY CONTRIBUTION TO CHARITY THIS CHRISTMAS. AT NO POINT IS READER MONEY USED FOR THE SHIRTS OR TOTES. SO HOW CAN THAT BE COMMERCIAL? I HAVE NEVER EVER MADE ANY MONEY OUT OF THIS SITE, AND HAVE SPENT OVER PHP500,000 OVER 3 YEARS TO DESIGN IT, MAINTAIN IT, FEED IT, ETC. AND THAT ISN’T EVEN COUNTING MY TIME.

SO, WHILE I HAVE NEVER OUTRIGHT INSULTED A READER ON THIS BLOG BEFORE, YOU HAVE THE DISTINCTION OF BEING THE FIRST…YOU ARE STUPID. STUPID AND STUPIDER THAN STUPID. YOU ARE UNINFORMED, SPEAK WITHOUT FACTS AND STUPID. YOU ARE THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO SHOULD VOLUNTARILY REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THE HUMAN GENE POOL SO THAT WE NEVER AGAIN HAVE TO DEAL WITH YOUR UTTER LACK OF LOGIC.

SO WHAT, POSSIBLY COULD HAVE MOTIVATED YOUR SNIDE COMMENT ABOVE? FACT, THEN YOU ARE WRONG. FICTION, THEN YOU ARE PITIFUL. EVEN IF YOU DIDN’T USE YOUR REAL NAME, LET ME TELL YOU, I TOTALLY BELIEVE IN KARMA AND I HOPE THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE 10,000+ PEOPLE WHO WILL READ THIS POST WILL SEND YOU BAD VIBES… AND IF YOU DID IT JUST TO RILE ME UP, WELL HERE IS THE FINAL COUNT… ROUGHLY 12,500 FULL MEALS WILL BE SERVED TO MALNOURISHED SCHOOL CHILDREN OVER THE COMING MONTHS, TOTALLY AS A RESULT OF MARKETMANILA READERS GENEROUS GIFTS. MARKETMAN WILL BE OUT PHP65,000 PLUS A WHOLE LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT. AND YOU, SMALL LITTLE YOU, WILL STILL BE STUPID.

YOU HAVE NOW, IN ONE SHORT COMMENT, REPLACED THE FISH PAN LADY IN THE NUMBER ONE SPOT OF STUPID COMMENTERS ON MARKETMANILA!

I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD CHRISTMAS.

    MARKETMAN

  17. Dang MM! You’re one pissed off dude! But I love that u responded to this stupid commenter….good onya!

  18. Wow! Great looking totes! I’m sure that the lines will be long and form early. And I will be the first one there! =)

I sooo agree with you MM. Mayroon pang “Sad how people…”. Sad she ain’t got a brain. But wait, the true meaning of your reply might just float over her head. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Sayang naman ang effort mo to reply.

  19. MM,I agree with Pia, sana may pick-up point somewhere near our place, QC or Ortigas. I am not familiar with Makati, the only place I know there is the Ayala Center.

  20. Hi MM,
Love your tote bag. Pls let us know the pick-up points asap so I could ask a friend to buy some. Does this include the T-shirt as well?

I understand your wrath, MM. The daft commenter had a field day, got the attention he/se wanted but didnt deserve. Some people are just plain sick in the head. Hope you’ve calmed down by this time. There are thousands of MM readers who are longing to have the MM tote bags and t-shirts and believe in your cause.

  21. Hi,

I’m a business owner and have been looking for a good value tote bag supplier – if you’re happy with your supplier, would appreciate it if you can fwd their contact details. Thanks!

  22. Dang, what an idiot! Geez, sad how people can be so stupid and critical without knowing the real facts.
Anyway, looking forward to your totes,MM! as i mentioned before, im more than willing to offer my space if you need one =)

  23. Way to go MM!! I love the t-shirts and tote design. Sayang cant get one but I am sure with all your hard work it will help alot of kids. God Bless..

  24. things to do:

    – hit him on the head with your “elitist” fish pan!

    – cut his b**ls with your silver grape scissors

    – then feed it to your pet labrador

    *evil grin*

  25. Are donations restricted to just local then? Sorry if I missed this information from a previous post …

  26. yah, i second chi’s ?. does this mean no US buyers/contributors? sorry if this has been posted, must have missed it….

  27. we all have to deal with the likes of emilalva at some point of our lives.
just think of the hundreds of people who will benefit from what you initiated and carried on to fruition — those who will be happily toting the bags and wearing the shirts and more important, the schoolchildren who will be nourished.
    great job MM!

  28. Uh oh….cannot believe how ignorant and uninformed emilalva is. Get all the facts right before you deign to flame somebody, emilalva! He/she instantly reminded me of the fish pan lady.

Anyway, the tote bags look good. I will have to ask family back home to line up early for the bag – don’t know how lucky I will get with that.

  29. damn! would it be possible for international shipping?! maybe… someday… one of these days? hehe well, it looks nice. esp here that totes like those are IN coz theyre trying to cut down on paper/plastic consumption in supermarkets… i would love to have one, or two… maybe even three… =___=

  30. Hi MM, I hope you take up Anna Banana’s offer to distribute bags in SM North Edsa (The Block) as I live near here. It will also be good pick up point for those who live in the North (Bulacan, Pampanga, etc).

  31. nice bags!!! hmmmm… now who can i convince to get me one back home… will wait for more details of the pick up point… Bless you MM for these endeavor in helping those kids, don’t worry yourself too much with ignorant people who have nothing better to do with their lives…
