rico, they sell "plant food" in floral stores. Alternatively, ONE DROP of clorox in about a liter of water helps too...essentially it inhibits bacterial growth, allowing the flowers to last longer. Alternatively some crushed aspirin has been mentioned before...not sure if biogesic has the same impact as plain aspirin...

this will give me a good needed perking up at my office station, would you have a suggestion on what to add to the water to make the flowers last longer..they say putting biogesic in the water would do the trick..I haven't tried it though

Your arrangement is really so cheerful! Aside from cooking, my other hobby is plants. Of course, flowers too. They are so soothing and refreshing. My suki's at FTI (even from their Magallanes days) were so very kind from the very beginning as they patiently answered all my questions and even gave me reading material. As i really got into philodendrons, aroids and ferns, they even helped me find rare plants to add to my collection, as well as direct me to plants shows and lectures. They are all a wonderful bunch, so unselfish with their knowledge and with such enthusiasm. Actually, like you, MM. You love to share your ups and downs in the kitchen and everyday life. Thanks so much!
