Yes, I also watched it on CNN and it was heartwrenching but I do admire the Dutch for the respect and dignity they gave to those who perished irregardless of nationality. Filipinos are very religious and yet I cringed at the way the victims of typhoon Yolanda, Ondoy and other disasters were treated.

The air crashes in Taiwan and Mali were both attributed to weather disturbance. With climate change, wind intensity and direction should be assess thoroughly before each flight.

It is very disturbing – everything in the news lately is enough to drive one to depression. All those innocent lives, they had nothing to do with the squabbles of people/nations on the ground. It is scary that there is nothing sacred anymore.

I agree with you, may the people who did this never have a second of peace for the rest of their lives, including the people who supported and trained them.

i remember a lyric from a song by SCORPIONS, “Under the same Sun”

— “we all live under the same Sun, we all live under the same moon, but why … can’t we live as ONE.”

every time i hear this song, gives me goosebumps.

MM, yes, tears and goosebumps the whole time i watched the arrival ceremonies. i couldn’t help but observe – aside from the royal family and other dignitaries, the MH 17’s victims” families were also there, but the tv news cameras did not take a single shot of the families – no reporters shoving mics into their faces, no one asking them how they feel (which is the local media’s favorite question of victims of tragedies here)…the Dutch are teaching us a lot about dignity, class and respect. and yes, i wondered too, about where they got all 40 identical hearses.

Not meaning to detract from this tragedy and the victims of the plane crash but there are also many Palestinian civilians that have recently died due to the huge ground invasion of Israel into Gaza (“Operation Protective Edge”). _Coincidentally_ on the very same day that the MH 017 crash happened.
Would not be surprised if the two were somehow connected.

Why we as a human race still wage wars with military troops and machinery in this day and age just boggles my mind.
