Thanks for the tips. kurzhaar, you are welcome. millet, I didn’t used to make many leafy arrangements, but perhaps this recent experience will change things… marilen, yes, the “natural” and “messy” can be charming. greens blossoms, thanks for the photos you sent, they are stunning!

Hi MM – You did a great job with these arrangements. When you have that “event”, may I suggest putting river rocks at the bottom of the vase (for clear ones only). I usually put about three or four inches of rocks; it gives that finesse look to the arrangement. For informal events, like kids’ birthday parties, marbles would be a festive substitute. Also, if you put a teaspoon of Clorox in the water, your flowers and greens will last longer without changing the water everyday.

love that second arrangement! glad to know there are others like me who like leaf arrangements. everytime i prune my garden, i stick the leaves and cuttings onto floral foam inside a bowl or vase with water. some don’t even wilt and go on to sprout new roots.

Have always been partial to slightly ‘messy’ arrangements, in this instance, love all the greens, the shape of the different leaves, foliage – makes your arrangements more interesting and charming (and pennywise too).

Gej, yes, a couple of weeks with some sprucing up and fresh water daily. kurzhaar, I think most florists with tele flora or other global networks will be able to get a bouquet delivered in major Philippine cities through local affiliates. But if your friend(s) want to go direct, Island Rose has on-line ordering facilities, and if they seek much more upscale artisans, two fantastic florists are Mabolo flowers and 517 Flower Company. The latter two have only one shop each and I suspect you can order from abroad if you pre-pay. They might also consider Margarita Fores' flower shop, Fiore di M, that has some wonderful arrangements as well. They are pricey but do stunning arrangements. Epicron, you shouldn't be able to do that unless you constantly clear your cache or perhaps the poll is longer than 2 weeks old, will change it now... vivienne, yes, the vellum (large dark green leaves) in particular do well in a home garden, and I'm sure some of the other greens would thrive as well. corrine, no floral foam, just straight into water with "plant food" to keep water clear and leaves happy. This took say 3-4 minutes to make, tops. It looks a bit like a bad hair day, but in person, its rather nice. chelly, yes, affordable indeed.

Somewhat related–I was showing your blog to a friend who asked if I knew of reliable floral delivery to Asia (orders from the US for delivery in either Indonesia or the Philippines), which I did not. Any recommendations? I will pass them on.
