Congratulations! It's gratifying to know that Filipino food blogs are getting more and more attention from the international community. I know that pinoycook.net, another favourite of mine, was mentioned in the (if I remember correctly) New York Times. Great job, MM!

Rob, I second the emotion. When I find myself the minority english speaker in a group, I do find it impolite, or uncomfortable at best, when comments are made in another language I dont understand. And so now you've explained why Marketmanila has such a broad audience that includes non-filipinos... Nice to know MM and all posters here are helping to bring filipino food and culture to the rest of the world in a smart and effective way!

Congratulations MM!!! One of the main reasons why I love your blog is that you write in ENGLISH and when you use a Tagalog phrase, you at least translate it into English. You give many of us around the world a deeper insight into the Philippines. Your culinary trips throughout the archipelago have attained legendary status. This is why you are popular world-wide. You do a better job than anyone in the Philippine Dept. of Tourism to promote the country.

Practically all the other blogs from the Philippines (regardless of topic) use a lot of Tagalog with no translation which limits their audience to those familiar with the vernacular. A non-Tagalog speaker will read their English blog entries on an interesting subject but then the conclusion will be in Tagalog! I find this tantamount to conversing at the dinner table in a language not comprehensible to other dining partners. I know expatriates in Manila that this happens to all the time, usually it's a joke or some humourous story in English where the punchline is in Tagalog. They think it's rather impolite.

I have introduced your blog to at least 20 relatives & friends throughout the world who access it daily. Thank you for allowing us to live vicariously through you.
