A former co-worker of my partner whom I met for the first time during a dinner out took my hand, looked at my engagement ring (no name jeweler) and said: “he must really like you”, to which I responded: “it’s my reward for sticking it this long”. :-D

Yes, I know what you’re saying. In the classic, Bullitt, Steve McQueen is eating what I assume to be a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a glass of milk. Somehow that translates to steak frittes and a Coke when I think of the city (SF).

I don’t know why but silhouettes remind me of impossibly coiffed smoking jacketed men in profile taking puffs from slim cigarette holders as long as the one Audrey Hepburn is holding in the promotional photos for Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

This medium robin egg blue that has become Tiffany’s eponymous color clinches my attention all the time, quite effective in the painted entrance door in your pic.

For the longest time there was this tiny elegant restaurant at the NY Plaza Hotel Athenee called Le Régence that was muffled with boiserie painted in this color that made it so evocative of Belle Époque Paris. Sadly, they tore the classic woodwork down and replaced it with nondescript contemporary paneling around after 9/11. This comes to mind whenever I hear 9/11 being mentioned as having changed everything for the worse.
