I can almost smell this wreath! My mom-in-law usually gets a fresh pine from S&R for her Christmas tree and the excess branches that get trimmed are placed in vases at the altar near the front door – the smell of pine hits you first thing when you enter the house! This wreath idea will amp it further! Thank you for such a simple yet creative idea…

Thank you MM for sharing this wonderful wonderful idea of yours! I plan to make this as christmas gift next year to my neighbors. We live in a small village in Antipolo where there is still fog and I’m pretty sure the sight and smell of the pine wreath come December will definitely be a blast! By the way this is my first time to read your blog ( just chanced upon it thru google) and by golly, I am hooked! It’s as if I received a christmas present just by reading your blog. Happy Holidays!

Wreaths remind me of Advent, the celebratory anticipation of Christmas that is surprisingly a big event even in outwardly secular societies such as in the large European cities. They mark its progression with an advent calendar and in France, they also bake a special cake for the end of the last week of Advent which coincides with Christmas eve that looks much like their bûche de noël only in the shape of a wreath.

I love making pine wreath, my husband though thinks its a waste of time, pina-ikot ikot lang daw yung mga dahon; and we have a metal door, kaya yung pagsabit eh duon sa front side wall, eh natatakipan yung door bell, so maraming “diskusion” kaya year after hindi ko na ginawa. One time naman when we were at North Carolina where our neighbors have huge Magnolia trees, yon ang ginawa ko – Magnolia leaves wreath, with pinatuyong roses and peonies. Ang ganda, hindi nga lang kasing bango ng pine wreath.
