What a great idea….green for the environment! A wreath is not something for Christmas only….it can be an all year round decoration in the house…..you can embellish it with knick knacks signifying a season/holiday like fruits and flowers for summer;bunnies and chicks for easter; gourds for halloween; hearts for Valentinies, etc!

Martha Stewart has a whole book dedicated to wreath ideas. Some of the more creative wreaths were made of berries, pine nuts, even autumn leaves.

i miss going to the christmas tree lot to pick out a tree, decorate it once we get home. the smell of the fresh tree is really nice and fills up the entire house. really adds up to the ambiance of the season. but, since we've lived here in germany, and we're always traveling for the holidays (anywhere here in europe), we haven't had one. it's not really worth putting up some, because no one is at home to enjoy it. oy... but the trip to visit friends is also worth it. by the way, not a bad looking wreath, if i say so myself :)

a neighbor has a huge cypress tree in front, so i’ll probably cadge a few boughs next year. am thinking a styrofoam ring would also make a good wreath base, maybe. thanks for the tip, MM!
