the other philip rodriguez gown was stunning. you can see it behind the monique lhullier gown in the first photo. it had a peek-a-boo front and a plunging back. a pity there is no photo of the pearl encrusted jacket that would have been perfect for mother-of-the-bride.

First, kudos to the Kid for a great sampling of fashion photos. Picked a lot of interesting dresses.
I liked the look of the dress in the second photo, sort of a suit jacket, with an interesting texture on the long skirt. Not sure of that Philip Rodriguez dress, made me think of a poodle on the wrong end of the dress. Or a lampshade.
But at least it shows our designers are slowly doing away with cupcake dresses for wedding gowns. I remember attending a relatives wedding in the late 80’s and literally, the colors of her gown and the colors of her cake, plus the shape, all matched! My sister and I can still remember that hilarious celebration. And it was at San Sebastian too!

Hello MM! Your daughter took some wonderful photos of the event. I second it by saying indeed she does have “talent” for photography. It shows that she enjoyed herself because of the photos she took! Maybe she’ll be the one to start taking food pix of your creation! :-) Take care . . .

Wow, The Kid is already a good photographer MM. She has talents… the wedding gowns are gorgeous! I especially liked Ms. Monique L gowns… brings back the old memories when my hubby & I tied the knot! Missed your regular food posts.. tried your blueberry muffin…taste great! will be baking it for my son’s upcoming birthday! Thanks.

Cumin, Mrs. MM was in a heavily embroidered beaded gown, gorgeous but literally heavy, the embroidered fabric cut from a bolt that was hand made locally and destined for the workshops of Giorgio Armani in Milan, who was sourcing materials here at the time. I wore a charcoal grey double-breasted Armani suit. But we had a very small and simple wedding by Manila standards with just a small party of family and friends. The nuptials were held at the Basilica de San Sebastian in Quiapo, which we consider to be one of the most stunning churches in Manila to get married in…

i remember when wedding gowns looked no different from wedding cakes especially in the 80’s when it was in vogue for a bride to be all wrapped up in lace and ruffles. i’m so glad that, fashion-wise, we have come to our senses, although i doubt if i’d go as far as wearing a gray wedding dress like the one featured in the last picture.
