I never bothered to watch the show because the host doesn't appeal to me. I think she should just stick to acting instead of hosting.
I have yet to see a Pinoy version of any foreign TV show live up to the original.

ariel, you are completely spot on. :) I find the local version to be missing several ingredients, and after the first couple or so shows, I stopped watching many months ago. I was supposed to do the lechon episode with the kids, but last minute snafus, constant changes in plans, and seriously dizzy production schedules had me bow out two days before after the show's staff threw several monkey wrenches into pot... So it will be interesting to see tonight and tomorrow's episode and watch if things have improved...

If folks truly passionate about food were behind the show, it would shine through to the final product. As it was a few months ago, it seemed like just another advertising vehicle and money maker for the channel. I will probably get into hot water for saying that. :)

Hay naku, I wish you luck Footloose... it really enhances the taste of any food (including, can you believe, paksiw na tulingan??).. I once over baked some salmon fillets and the oil was a big help in salvaging them! So addictive that you will find excuses...

Ariel, you are not alone in that sentiment. My hubby finds it boring, as well. We follow Junior Masterchef Australia and he thinks that the Pinoy version pales in comparison in terms of pacing, judging, timing, etc. He attributes it to the judges, he thinks they don't seem credible and their statements seem too staged and scripted! But I love watching the kids and secretly envy them for being so good so I don't mind the sometimes slow pacing. I just wish that the cute girl Bianca made it to the top 6. She was a spitfire - she even said China Coquangco was mataray hahaha.

MM, my comments on the Junior Masterchef Pinoy edition:

I support all efforts at promoting Phil cuisine, I love the kids, the effort they show, and the dishes.

But I find the pace and presentation of the show too sleep inducing. My wife and I can't pinpoint it- the music? , the editing of the shots?, the pacing (too slow?), the judges and how they interact? (like reading scripts instead of feeling it?) It just seems to lack the punch of the other versions. Parang it's not making me curious enough to try and learn those dishes.

This is just my opinion, and I could be in the minority here, so if the organizers think it doesnt need changing, then I accept that.

Got it Betty Q and thanks. MP, I have drizzled it only on food up until now but since you confess drizzling it on almost anything, I think I shall try it your way on a very limited basis, just as a special treat for Saint Valentine's day.
