Marketmanila Turns 3 Years Old!!! Check This Site Often This Week!!!

Yup, Marketmanila turns 3! In human years equivalent, that’s like turning 50 or maybe even 60… I can’t actually recall when I published my first post, but it was sometime in November, 2004 (despite archive posts for September 2004 that were put in later). During the past 36 months, I have written over 1,400 posts which works out to an average of 1.27 posts per day, every single day! Phew! In March 2007, when I reached my 1,000th post, this blog had recorded about 2.7 million page hits. In the 8 months since then, it has added another 2.3 million page views, for a total of about 5 million page views during its lifetime. The site has also recorded about 30,000 reader comments and I am grateful for all of your inputs, suggestions, tips and encouragement! Frankly, the “numbers” shock me every time I check my statistics and I am honestly surprised that so many of you keep coming back to visit and read the posts day after day…

Thank you so much for visiting marketmanila.com! Please visit the site MORE OFTEN during the next five days or so, as I will be announcing the final details for the t-shirt and tote program, with the first pick-up day being Saturday, 17 November 2007. T-shirts and totes are limited so it will be first come, first served. I will also be running another marketmanila trivia contest where you will have a chance to win some of my homemade mangosteen jam. Plus, another event where the prizes are these fantastic 2008 planners that include an “insider’s list” to all these great food sources in Manila. So check in often, join the silliness, get a chance to win a goody or two, and help kick-off the Christmas spirit by sponsoring meals for the Public School Feeding Program. It’s the Third Anniversary Week Celebration at Marketmanila!!! Thank you very much!

  37. Hey MM, the Salcedo Market also turned 3 last June (or was that July?)… Curious to know, what inspired you to start this blog? Because in the three years since you started this blog, going to the market and buying local became a stronger global trend, esp in the US.

This Marketmanila mindset of buying local is a fantastic example of everyday patriotism that should eventually become popular attitude. Good for us, great for the ecomony, and an all-around fantastic way to foster the natural entrepreneurial spirit of the filipino.

  38. Happy Anniversary. I first knew about your blog because of a feature in a newspaper. Congrats…more and more years of blogging ahead!

  39. happy birthday! thanks for sharing so much with us.

you’re a ‘household name’ in our household :) i cooked kare-kare last weekend, my best so far, my family thought so too. they asked “did you use marketman’s recipe?” and my answer was, of course, a resounding “YES!”

thanks again and keep on blogging!!

Congrats MM on your much deserved success!

  42. Nice going,MM. Notice that my name is meant only for this blog. What does that say?

  54. CONGRATS!! A Well Deserved page hits Keep up the Good work and Leave the Detractors Behind dont let them drag you Down…

  55. It’s been said so many times already, but CONGRATULATIONS!

I think there is a chinese proverb that goes something like — To become immortal, write a book or bear a son.

In your case, you have done both. You have your KID (yes, its PC to say “child” instead of “son” now) and you have this blog that is the age of computers, is really more of a live book than anything else. So aside from everything that has been said about you, you can add immortal to the list. Grabe, daunting!

Anyway, many thanks for the months and months of entertainment and information. I have been an avid reader for over a year (can’t remember when I started reading your blog) and it is just fantastic to read about things cosmopolitan, nostalgic, funny and interesting all in one blog.

  56. Congratulations!!! MarketManila .. one of the best blogsite in the Philippines … Happy 3rd Anniversary!!! Keet it UP!

  57. Let me be the 101st to congratulate you on your 3rd anniversary!!!! Your blog will always be on my surflist ;-)

  58. Thank you so much for creating this blog. Your blog is truly one of a kind – informative, practical, highly credible, funny and entertaining. Hats off to you!

I accidentally came across your food blog while doing a search on some Filipino food which I thought were long lost and forgotten but were so much a part of my childhood like kesong puti, gatas ng kalabaw, Cebu’s budbod kabog & masi, puto bungbong made of pirurutong etc. And then recipes and tips on how to make authentic Chicken Inasal, 3 types of Adobo, and the perfect Ensaymada were posted and I was hooked. Reading your blog is my cure for homesickness.

MM, I want to join the trivia contest & hope to win your homemade mangosteen jam! If I win, I’ll give it to my mom so she can use it to bake her coffee mangosteen cake – just to see how it will improve the cake and/or make a difference!

Bravo MM and more power to you!!!

  59. Happy 3rd year! Our everyday meals and parties have gotten so much better thanks to this site… You know you have a good thing going because you attract a lot of weirdos, heehee… I am amazed at how you can attract the fish pan ladies and emilavas (?) of this world… Keep the posts coming!!!

  60. MM, you know how I feel as I’ve commented so many times already. I know I am just one of a legion of Marketfans who not only benefit from you foodblogs but also are one with you in keeping the flame of social consciousness and altruism alive in our increasingly egocentric world. Para sa bayan!
