“Canned and Bottled” Appetizer…

P1050590

I make a lot of things from scratch. But there are some great things that are processed and canned, and in a pinch, make a phenomenal appetizer. The Spanish and French seem to have the lead on delicious canned goodies like sardines, anchovies, mussels, tuna, pate, etc. And when guests drop by bearing large tins of foie gras, you can’t help but smile…

“Sister” is in town for a couple of weeks, hence my relative silence recently. A cousin from Australia is also a houseguest. We took them to Sinulog in Cebu (her first one) and they ate lechon nearly every meal for a three-day visit there. :) At any rate, for some quick appetizers before dinner the other day, we just put out some slices of french bread, a chunk of canned pate de foie gras and some bottled onion confit for a delicious and special treat. Egads, this extended holiday season means I have put on countless pounds that I need to start working to pare down starting February 1. :(

  1. I also thought it was salted egg… until I read the post.

This is yum-o! I am envious of the daily lechon meals.
