Marketmanila on Twitter…

The Teen said I was so old fashioned. Using yesterday’s technology. I have never even updated my webpage since it was started nearly 5 years ago. I should join the modern ages. Was she twitting me? Hahaha, get it? I don’t even have a facebook as I wanted to remain mostly faceless. An avid marketmanila fan DID set up a facebook account, but I can’t follow it as I never set up a facebook account myself. The teen thinks I must be one of the dozen or so people on the planet with a computer that doesn’t have a facebook account… So this afternoon she helped me set up a “twitter” account. I suppose that officially makes me a twit that tweets… Hahaha. Not really sure why anyone would want to know what I am thinking or doing at any given moment of the day, but I figured it was worth a try. So if you want to “follow me” or get my tweets please look me up as “marketmanila” on twitter. What do I intend to tweet about? What’s cooking, new food finds, what’s in the market, what’s in season, interesting restaurant finds, where to buy certain food or kitchen items, food trivia, and MOSTLY food related tweets, though I reserve the right to have an occasional tweetrant or otherwise brainless message… But please leave comments on the marketmanila.com blog rather than on twitter, as I can barely handle the volume of emails and comments as it is… Thanks! :)

  1. dont have a twitter account. just follow you here on your blog. better to have facebook fan page MM.. and i’ll be a fan.. lol

  2. I guess its must have been better here, more simple and definitely i can enjoy the food photos and enjoy the many comments,,my imagination works better here as if im eating those photos infront of me…naturally we are simply talking about food here and explore as what MM explored…I feel that its better organise here…We can follow easily all the steps…Dont know,,maybe im a kind of old model….but i like it here….very much!

  3. i also have facebook and i think twitter has the same purpose so i didnt create a twitter account. i still prefer the original site of marketmanila to follow you and your family in your new food discoveries, etc.

  4. I agree with Natie, MM! Just like Doc would say…I am LO-TECH!

Even with all these modern TOYS that I have, I still revert back to the way my mom used to cook things with. What makes your blog stand up above the rest is the interactive things going on among the commenters and I do ENJOY reading them and they have become part of my extended family!

  5. I don’t think twitter’s going to steal the spotlight away from this blog. 140 characters is not enough for marketman. :)

Twitter is just going to be an extension of it. Maybe if he’s somewhere in the field, he can take a picture of a new discovery and tweet about it. But the juicy details will still be in this blog.

    Anyway, welcome to twitter MarketMan.

  6. I have to disagree a little bit………….I think it’s genius that you’re on Twitter. I know a lot of people are big on FB right now, but Twitter is quick, fast, in a 140 words or less, you can share a revelation or a picture of a meal, or something inspiring you see on the street.

I’ll look forward to both your Tweets AND your blog posts. Hurray!

  7. I try to add you to my twitter but when I searched for marketmanila, it says couldn’t find the account. I wonder what happened.

  8. By the way, to anyone who’s thinking of trying twitter (but has nobody to teach them about it), here’s a useful link:

    https://mashable.com/guidebook/twitter/

I’m not trying to buy you guys into twitter, but it’s one of the most useful forms of communication nowadays.

The news about GMA’s $20,000 dinner first broke out on twitter.

And it’s a good instrument for people who have a lot of things to say. haha :)

  9. I feel your pain… I finally gave in to FB after numerous “suggestions” from friends. Like you, I want to maintain a certain level of anonymity! I think twitter is a good thing for your blog especially for some of your readers who don’t visit your site regularly but check their tweets several times during the day. I think it will attract more readers for you.

  10. MM I tried searching for you on Twitter and it’s not coming up with anything! I’m on it now and it’s coming out with nothing.

  11. tna, patrick, francis, et al… not sure what was happening on twitter when you were looking for “marketmanila” but I woke up this morning and there are already 32 “followers” on twitter which was rather surprising… Maybe twitter was down? like the other day when it crashed? Please try to add me a little later today or tomorrow. Thanks. Don’t worry, no earth shattering news is being missed. :) Thanks.

  12. Have been trying to add you up on twitter since yesterday but I got same message as tna and Patrick. I tried it again a while ago and still got the same message? =(

  13. Susan, so much for “newer” technology. Twitter is having probems. I just got “Twitter is OVER CAPACITY” … too many tweets… please try again later. :(

  14. Hi! My sister introduced your blog to me. However, most of the times I forget to visit your blog. Already followed you on Twitter so if you have a new post, please tweet it. Thanks!

  15. Apparently twitter is undergoing a “denial of service” (?) attack by hackers. They have been experiencing problems for a few days now. FB also affected according to the radio yesterday.

  16. Great Marketman! I have been planning to ask if you tweet and I’m glad you did. It’s the best way to communicate. I shall follow you. Thanks.

  17. for those unfamiliar with twitter, its perfect to draw more people to your site/blog. you can partner it with FB for added reach too. plus there are a lot of useful twitter streams available. and if you need to do a quick and dirty update, twitter is the easiest way to do it.

  18. I can’t find you on Twitter- I searched marketmanila under FindPeople? what am I doing wrong?

  19. Nice one MM…i followed you on twitter too, but I love your blog and still would love to come here and read all about your rants and recipes :)

  20. I wholeheartedly agree with Natie and BettyQ. As the year goes by, my reading glass needs to be updated too. As they say “It is hard to teach an old dog new tricks,” categorically, I belong to this group. I need help in resetting the timer of my microwave. With all this new advanced computer programming sprouting up, I am totally lost like a blind person.

  21. I have an FB acct but I find that to be a huge timesuck. What more pa kaya Twitter? Uh oh, wala na ‘kong magagawa. :( So I guess I’ll just be old-fashioned like bettyQ, Maria Clara, etc. and stick to this good ol’ blog. :)

  22. I JUST gave in to Facebook 2 weeks ago since I really like Multiply. No Tweeting for me. You know what they say, there is nothing like “D’ Original…” buko pie! Hehehe.

  23. Don’t worry about being called old-fashioned, MM. After resisting it for as long as I could, I only joined Facebook this year, and only because there was a very good reason. I’ve now proven my apprehensions right, as it has taken over SO MUCH of my time! Which is why I now refuse to join Twitter. Enough, I say!!! ;-) I’m content to enjoy your thoughts on your blog.

  24. Grateful reader of the blog here, yet to embrace Twitter though. Should you decide to update the blog interface, an unsolicited feature request: perhaps a link to older posts right on the first page? Like the “More posts” link that’s only present in the Archives. Some blog themes also include links for each comment, quite useful when making references. That would make another great addition. Many thanks for all your informative and meaningful posts. Happy birthday, Marketman!
