Mrs. Marketman’s Book Picks

MLQ3 tagged me for yet abookanother book meme. Since I have hit middle age and only read cookbooks and food magazines these days (confident that my I.Q has peaked and is slipping downhill from now on), I have asked my wife to fill in this meme as she is by far more erudite and her stack of bedside books is far more interesting than mine. She puts post it notes on books, chapters, articles and pages that I should read so I don’t have to wade through the crap… Here is her response… (and this is the last chain meme we are doing for a long while…)

  1. Madamme MM I do the same for my husband I mark certain
    chapters for him.
400 book certainly you have a vast collection I still have a long way to go.most of our books are crossing between Greece and UK most of the time.

  2. Mrs. Marketman, Guns Germs and Steel and Shadow of the Wind are books I’ve read and enjoyed. Jared Diamond is a very good writer, who makes science understandable. I’m saving up money for his new book.
Shadow was a find. I read a review, was doubtful, but read it through and enjoyed it, am now sharing it with a handful of reading friends.
I joined friends to read HP6 over the weekend, lots of fun, and ate lots of good food while we had our mass reading. We took a chapter to read aloud each, and we started right after all of us got a copy on Saturday, and finished right about 9 p.m. on Sunday. Am looking forward to finishing this series.

  3. Schatzli I hope your books get to you soon. Yes, I end up marking things for MM to read, otherwise he just looks at cookbooks and food magazines…not that that’s bad. We have great meals at home! Mila, you are right, Shadow was a pleasant surprise. If you can find Seraglio, it is also quite a good book. I cheated and read HP6 already, now I can’t wait for the final release of HP7!

  4. Hello Mr. and Mrs. MM. I must say AWESOME! Mrs. MM’s choice of books leaves me in awe. But I also noticed Harry Potter (which I’ve not read and that makes me feel abnormal) and The Rule of 4, the only one of Mrs. MM’s favorites that I have and plan to read.
Mr. MM, I hate to say this but I must beg off from the cookbook meme that I promised to do. You might die laughing if you read my answers. I certainly don’t want that to happen. I think I’ll stick to eating. :)

  5. Bugsybee, no worries on cookbook meme. Notice, I had to sidestep the most recent meme and let my wife answer it! That will be the last one we will do for a while.
