No Reservations Philippines, February 16th!!!

Two weeks from now, the episode of No Reservations Philippines with Anthony Bourdain is scheduled to air at 10p.m., Eastern Time, according to the Travel Channel TV schedule posted on their website. I am so excited, and I can’t even watch it from the Philippines! :( But at any rate, more than 50% of marketmanila’s regular readers seem to reside in North America, so I am hoping that at least some of you will get to see it and hopefully leave me a comment that day if it was okay or just plain horrible (or if they cut out Cebu entirely)! Or better yet, if you know how, record it or segments of it (lechon?!) and put it on youtube… please? So mark your calendars now, Feb 16th, Monday, at 10 p.m. Eastern. There are nearly 4-5 million Filipinos in North America and I hope a whole lot of them get to see this episode. Start those chain emails/alerts to let everyone know… My fingers and toes are crossed. :)

  1. I’ve been scanning the travel channel website for any news on when it will be shown. I can (illegally) download it and put it on a DVD for you if you like

  2. siopao, oh, wouldn’t want you to do that… producers promised me a dvd, I’ll just have to wait for it I guess… but actually, the teen says I can buy the episode online and download it to my ipod! :) But thanks for the kind offer, siopao!

  9. Thanks for the info. I just got my cable a week ago, and I have been checking Bourdain’s schedule everyday. Naku kahit pa 12 midnight sa amin ito, I will surely watched it. And of course will record it for my other relatives. They recently feature lechon in Puerto Rico, ano kaya ang pagkakaiba?

  13. I’m so excited MM ! Yes, its available on iTunes usually just a few days after it airs — just $2.00 per episode. I don’t have an iPod (with a screen) but I can watch it from my pc (bigger screen too) again and again. Also, like Lee mentioned, there’s a youtube channel that uploads it usually by the week-end after an episode airs. I surprised (pleasantly) that the Travel Channel doesn’t have it shut down.

  15. new episodes of the show get an instant replay afterwards, so if you missed it at 10PM EST, you can still watch it at 11pm! :)

    but i guess fans of the show already know this. :P

  17. Do you think the schedule in North America jive with the schedule here in Manila under Travel and Living channel? Sorry, but I keep missing episode of the show due to the schedule conflict with my son favorite cartoon network. Anyway, will try to check every week till the 10th of Feb.

For those who susbscribe to Time Warner Cable in California you can watch NR (if you have HDTV)on Channel 452 at 7:00 pm and replays afterwards now I don’t have to wait 10:00 pm just to watch it i usually fall asleep but i do record it so I can watch it next day i just don’t know how to upload it on the internet.

  21. Jaja, Malou, et al, we tend to be about 1/2-3/4 season behind here in Southeast Asia, so I suspect it will be several months yet before it is shown on local cable. I don’t think I will be able to resist buying a video from itunes for $1.99 a few days after it airs. But that’s me. :)

  22. As far as I know it won’t be available on itunes if you download it from the Philippines. You’d have to ask someone from the US or Canada to download it for you and then send it to you

  23. I was wrong… you can buy it from iTunes as long as you’re logged on to the “US store” instead of the “Philippines store”

  24. i was quite perturbed when the Phil episode wasn’t aired yet in Jan..i’m here now in the phil, and even though i can have it recorded back home, i want to view it asap… i have to be happy to view it thru the above media here then…thanks for the info…CAN’T WAIT!!!

  27. Don’t think there’s any way they’ll cut out the Cebu segment. This was the short description of the show on the Travel Channel schedule:

    Tony visits the Philippines, the “Land of the Lechon.” He stops in Manila, which is a diverse combination of Spanish and Chinese cultures. Then he heads off to Pampanga to sample some of their rare delicacies.

    Sounds more like yours will be the longest segment… :)

    It’s actualy 10pm across the board. It would be shown here in the West Coast at 10pm also (would already be 1am in the East Coast so East Coast folks get to see it first). Then reruns around 2am and Tuesdays.

    Unless you have one of those dish or satellites then you can view it at the same time as the East Coast Folks.

  39. am watching A. Bourdain as i type this messages. Dressed on old confederate soldier and eating those plantation cooking it’s all about the south (South Carolina) i’ll record it on my dvd recorder and upload it in my computer then send thru emails as attachment in streaming videos . . i’ll do it. i hope Mr. Bourdain is not using expletive words on this one. He’s not popular here in the Bible belt country.

  42. We have Satellite TV and not cable, and Bourdain’s No Reservations is on Discovery Travel and Living. It gets me excited everytime I see a commercial for his show, I can’t wait too to watch the Philippine episode. :)

  46. To all Comcast subscribers in the SF Bay area, the “NR-Philippines” will be shown on 2/16, from 7-8pm, so get your dvr, vcr, or whatever means to get it recorded at that time.

  56. We have been waiting for this episode! My wife and I (and all her relatives from Cebu) will be watching Bourdain in the Philippines next week. Looking forward to seeing Tony lip smackin’ and greased up from your succulent Lechon.

    Only wish we were in Cebu to enjoy it too!
