Red & White Lights a la The Kid

li1li2

The Kid is 11 and has been dabbling with digital photography for a couple of years. She even took a class with a fantastic professional photographer and now, gallery owner, who really opened The Kid’s eyes to the possibilities of the camera lens…

When we were deciding on this year’s Holiday decor, The Kid piped in and requested red and white lights for the outdoors. Marketman is normally partial to just white lights, but this year decided to let The Kid figure it out. We just finished putting up the red and white lights outside our front door and I asked The Kid to take some photos. She took all of these featured in this post. Up top, two closeups of the red and white lights, intentionally moved while keeping the lens open. And below, the most normal shot of out front door, with garage columns in red and white at right…

Here is another take on the same view but with serious jerky motion…

And finally, with a touch of photosohop, an abstract worthy of a Christmas card…cool, huh?

  1. Well, I’m glad I did some Christmas decorating in our house in Sta. Rosa, Laguna before flying back to LA on Thursday Dec 7. I copied the Christmas balls wrapped around the post in front of our gate. They look nice!!

  2. Looks like she has quite the eye for color coordination…

If only I could have a say in the decorations like she does :) It’s always white lights and red bows for us.

  3. That’s how master comes up at an early age she leans on that side. An apple tree will not bear an orange fruit! Marvelous 3D effect on all photographs except the third one which was taken with a normal view I supposed. The first and second ones look like pyrotechnics. Great job Kid.

  4. This is really impressive. Those photography lessons are paying off, but can’t replace natural talent which your daughter evidently has. Kudos to The Kid.
