Skinny Dipping…

Not a care in the world. Happy summer frolicking with friends on a stunning beach with crystal clear waters and an azure and cloud dotted sky. Perfect full body tans that would make many a pale Northerner cringe with envy. No need for bathing suits, they are skinny and they are most definitely dipping. :)

It’s amazing, but that previous paragraph could just as readily apply to a gorgeous blond on the French Riviera, backed by a massive trust fund, possessing a penchant for sushi and several Villebrequin-clad suitors on the sidelines. Her yacht offshore awaits her return.

Back to Bohol and the scene could just as easily be marred by the reality that many of these kids will soon give up the carefree days on the beach for child labor of sorts, helping their families eek eke out a living from land and sea. They will probably have a relatively bleak future in the sense of proper and sufficient nutrition, a decent education and a future full of employment possibilities. But for now, they are just skinny dipping, and boy did it look like a LOT of FUN!

  1. Not a care in this world where the perfect moment is the NOW.

Pinoys in general are accepting of their fate, and, whether good or bad makes us one of the happiest people on earth.

  2. gone are the days when kids in the metro enjoy what mother nature can offer….i’d rather have my kids do the same thing than lying on a couch playing an Andoid games

  3. Wish i could do that not a care in the world what so ever but then reality strike, we grow up and life sometimes is so unfair , as my husband says we deal with the hands dealt… the best way we can, happy summer market man and family enjoy the heat it’s still cold here in balmy England…
    Cheers

  4. “eek” out a living indeed! MM, that’s a perfect anagram if there ever was one. It appears anagramming could be counted amongst your many skills and talents.

  5. ahhhh…childhood and summertime in the beaches, and not a care in the world. Happy Vacation MM..

  6. I like this post, MM. A paean to the simple joys of childhood, while acknowledging the harsh challenges ahead.
