Some Clues… :)

where4

The sky has been a crystal clear cerulean blue for four days straight. Superb weather for this time of year. The Teen thought the photo above would be a perfect first clue. A bit tough, I said, but let’s start with that…

where2

A hint of silk, some light wool and a penchant for horses…

where1

…the Teen crossing the Arago line with bright pink socks…

where5

…note Arago, not Rose as it is more popularly known…

where3

…and Marketman with the final clue. Have you figured out where we were for the last few days? :)

  1. Paris, France — The Arago Rose Line is better known as the Paris Meridian, the once challenger to Greenwich as the zero-longitude line.

  2. On second thought, if you are indeed in Paris…you said this was not a foodie trip?…Paris and you are not going to indulge in French cuisine? Ok…must be heat stroke!!!!

  3. wow! you’re in Paris?? how come no food trip??hmmm..there is something definitely wrong here..

  4. Ok you’re in paris, but what’s with the six pack of TP ? I guess the kiamoy is just to satisfy the longing for that sweet sour taste that one cant get in french cooking

  5. Besides, who goes to Paris for only a few days?!? …unless you are reside in Switzerland or Germany or Italy and you just hop on a train and you’re there!…What am I talking about…you went to Vermont for a week-end!!!!

Oh, I remember Sister posting a comment last Christmas or was it the other year? …Santa put plane tickets to Paris in your stocking!!!!

  6. Arago it may be but in the Da Vinci Code it is just called the Rose Line. It is still a bit cool in Paris at this time.

  7. The last photo includes a phone number; if it includes the country code, you are in Austria…

  8. Keep on guessing guys. MM will declare the winners when he returns to manila.

  9. In the beaches south of France? MM, when the first post came out, my first thought was Maldives! But u dont wear those shoes in the Maldives.. Ok, France it is!

  10. have resisted revealing where you were. just regale us with the food-ventures soon!

  11. Vienna! I remember the riding school there. Did you guys go to the opera house? Oh, and buy schnapps from the schnapps museum! The owner there is absolutely lovely!

  12. The Arago bronze disk/medallion picture was what made me remember the “The Da Vinci Code” book and movie. What I didn’t realize was that these medallions were put in place only in 1994. As for the last picture, additional Googling reveals that plate numbers in France end with 2- or 3- letters followed by a 2 digit number. Black on yellow rear plates are optional. Although this scheme will apparently change sometime in 2009. As for phone numbers, France has an 8-digit subscriber phone number prefixed by a trunk code — which for Paris is 01.

  13. Hey its “Where in the world is Carmen SanDiego?” The Marketman version. If the area code is correct on that taxi its Austria. The horse print would point to the Spanish riding school in Vienna. Wanda got it correct I believe.

  14. Paris! are you guys following the da Vinci Code trail? :-) have fun and looking forward to your travel posts and photos! ciao!

  15. isnt there any internet access in Paris, France? mali pala guess ko noon, which was palawan. my guess is, EUROPE!!! hehehe.

  16. I agree with peanut, why the TP? Sampaloc, kiamoy and the rolls of TP … pasalubong?? The TP is one of the critical items in MM’s luggage. Don’t they have TPs in Paris? Well… it is obvious. I won’t be getting the prize.

  17. I just finished one more novel about the Templars so when I saw the “Rose Line” I immediately thought: Paris!

  18. I don’t blame you for bringing your own TP to France. The bathrooms there are not very tourist-friendly, esp. the ones that have no actual toilet bowl, only an elevated step on the floor for squatting. Eeks! (Love France, just not the bathrooms.) ;-)

  19. somewhere in china? :)wherever you are mm, wishing you and your family a great time!

  20. Are you spending a few days at the Sta Ana racetrack just off JP Rizal?! It’s closed now and the Grandstands are demolished but the track is still there and it would make a lovely campsite! Weather has been hot and sunny here in Manila for a few days – hence the blue skies (and the horses) clue. My bet therefore is that you are holed up in Makati!!

  21. Ha ha ha…wherever you are, am sure you had fun!!Cant blame you for bringing TP. Preferred softness and ply makes a lot of difference. The space it got would be great space for pasalubong.
Your country code says you’re in Austria. Did you go to Paris,France then a train ride to Austria? (Sound of Music location?) Couldn’t figure why you said no internet? Just a laptop and you have a lot of wifi areas in Europe?
Can’t wait for your food fotos…wooohooo…..

    Welcome home!!

  22. Paris, France. Plate number ends in 75 (the code for Paris), and the 8-digit phone number – sans area code – is for a car dealer/garage in Paris, which explains why it’s on the licence plate holder.

Not too sure about the horse part, though – the Salon du Cheval was in December and the Arc de Triomphe race is in October. But I don’t know much about equestrian sports and am probably totally off-base!

  23. maybe you decided to try “backpacking” or better
yet driving across europe in a mini cooper?!?
this will explain the lack of TP, the numerous
sites and why food was not the priority hahaha…

  24. Talk about TP… yes the TP in Europe is not really like what we are used to. it’s kinda rough !

  25. You’re in Vienna! The taxi’s phone number is the give-away! Vienna’s country code is 43. Oh my! How I LOVE Vienna! have ou been to Stephansplatz already?

  26. You are in Rosslyn, GB — the rose line, the Ross in Rosslyn, and in GB there is dire need for nice toilet paper.

  27. Paris, France. Clear skies the last four days (weather.com); phone no. that starts with 43 – airport rental cars; arago rose line … but I am not sure about the horse and silk. But I’ll still go with Paris.

  28. Just like Lee, the penny loafers spoke to me! Polo or Cole Haan? And olive green chinos yet – totally not rock-n-roll. More like classic vintage.

  29. Definitely Paris because last year the French government implemented a change in the number plates. So if you are in Paris, your number plate ends in the number 75.The enigma of the TP is still unsolved…..maybe you prefer your own brand?….or TP is yukk there ……or very expensive but the quality is below par?????

  30. Hippodrome d’Auteuil in Paris, France with a bit of shopping at the Hermes boutique and/or the local boucheries chevalines?

Plus a side trip to/from Cannes, France?

  31. on your last pic the telephone number starts 43 and 43 is the country code for Austria. maybe Austria?

  32. Austria has white with red-white stripes borders on their car plates. Leider, ist es nicht Österreich.
