Technical Difficulties… :(

Just a quick note that I seem to be having back office technology issues which have affected my ability to post new things for the past couple of days. I am around and things should be back to normal shortly. It will be a miracle if I manage to publish this short post… :)

  1. i got a warning sign that my computer was infected when i tried to go to your website
friday..thinking that maybe its a malicious prank,
i turned my virus check on and both the quick scan and the hours long complete scan and both were okay.I HOPE that you can resolve the problems for this is the first site i check
everyday…and i truly LOVE your rants!! makes you so normal and real! :-)
I cooked the Kansi last week using the Batuan that my sister brought over and no more leftovers!
THis is why i love your site! not only do you introduce recipes from different areas but you cook these and you post the failures as well as the yummy success!!
    Thanks…..

  2. I got the same warning as Maria did that my computer was infected right after I clicked on the site. I ran the anti-virus software and it seemed ok. I assumed it was from another site that I browsed earlier because I have never had a problem with Marketmanila before. It didn’t click in my mind until I read Maria’s post above. Pls check on it ASAP. I check out your site almost daily (sometimes more) and would hate to get problems from it. Thanks.

  3. I clicked on your site twice Saturday morning and got the virus warning same as stated by Maria and Sandy. I also thought it was a malicious prank. You should check with your WEB host. It looked like someone was trying to take over your domain name by having visitors redirected to another site that was “selling” anti-virus software.

  4. Hi everyone, it is possible the site was the target of an attack, but it appears to have only affected my ability to post and fix posts. My computers appear to be totally clear and clean at this point. My techie guy is away and busy, so it may be a little while longer before I am able to post again. Now if only I could find the moron who tried to mess with this site, I have three gallons of freshly rendered pure tampalen lard I would like to deep fry his gonads in, assuming he is male. This definitely calls for more than the fishpan treatment. :)

  5. Thanks, MM, for that very funny warning you gave to the hacker of your site !!!! You made me laught this morning just thinking how the hacker’s bleep bleep will be deep fried in 3 gallons of freshly rendered tampalen !!! :D :D On second thought, that will be a waste of good fat !!!! He, he, he, ….

  6. The article in yummy.ph today pointed out by yan-i above features MM on the front page. Towards the end, it said that the original article appeared in the April 2007 issue of Yummy magazine. What you have here is a celebrity who prefers to be anonymous. ?! He works his tail off apparently neither for fame nor fortune, but clearly he is getting his due rewards. Congratulations and thank you for the fine diligent work.

  7. louinsanfran and yan-i, thanks for that, had no idea. It is a “replay” of an article from 4 years ago. It has some errors, at that time, there were 180,000 visits to the site per MONTH, not DAY, and my favorite market is NOT the Nasugbu market… they took liberties with the re-print. Not to mention my face in the third photo. :) At any rate, it’s a bad day to be having technical difficulties, after an apparent hacking attempt on my site. Or an actual hacking, but still partial survival of the site. :(

  8. I thought it was my computer too. I was afraid that my antivirus was not working! But then when I used Google Chrome I was able to get in just fine (which is what I am using at the moment). Good Luck!!

  9. Seems, my blog life support technician Kevin has managed to fix things, and transfer all files (bijillions of files, bits & bytes) to a cleaned up site. So what you see now is happy, clean and uninfected in any way, and let’s hope it stays that way. I have only been attacked this successfully once, and I hope the wrath of all regular readers descends on the perpetrator like a bullet train to the pizza ovens in hell. Regular programming back soon. Thanks Kevin!

  10. I hope that everything goes well MM! if you need to, you can count on us to send Bad vibes to the person who “attacked” MarketManila if ever it was the case! The wrath of all MM readers shall fall upon him indeed! :o

  11. I initially had a warning that I maybe trying to access another site…But after refreshing, I got in…

  12. when i access your site yesterday, all sort viruses abound ready for download and execute their dark ways. hopefully no one clicked ok to the prompts as that would be a disaster to whoever did click any of them. :-(

  13. Same with Maria my computer was attacked by Malware when I opened your site last Friday, I did a a quick scan but my computer still say’s it’s still being attacked so i did a full scan for 3 hours and thank God everything is Ok now, hope you are Ok in your end too, maybe somebody is dead envious of you Marketman..

  14. Easy MM. I don’t think the moron desrves your three gallons of freshly rendered pure tampalen lard. Use it na lang for other worthwhile projects that you could share with us in your website. Not worth you alta presion…

  15. was away this weekend in time for the evil hacker’s plot…glad your system is all clean now, MM

  16. same with Maria I had the same problem when I tried to access your site over the weekend, there was a pop-up that said something about malwares & viruses & was trying to download something if you clicked on it :(

  17. What ever it is that plagued the site… and as a good rule to follow, NOT TO CLICK on anything that doesn’t belong to the site.

We all know MM doesn’t show ads or link to shady sites like forever! ;)

So when in doubt, let MM know or in the comments.

  18. Hello there, I was at work when I clicked the site to read the blogs and posts and all of the sudden my computer went flashing saying that my computer is affected with virus. I didn’t get a chance to read at work so when I got home, I opened my computer and double clicked the site and It did the same thing (that was thursday morning here). Afraid of the virus I did’nt read Fri, Sat and Sun. It is Monday evening here now and it seems like everything is ok. There’s no more flashing screen or pop up, thanks goodness, I like to read your posts and blogs even at work sometimes i get into trouble with my boss :) I’d say it is a therapy for my homesickness, I’m learning different things about food and about other things on this site. I will keep reading.

  19. FYI

I too did find that my antivirus program ‘webroot’ found a file called marketmanila_com(1) download from this site to my pc. the AV noted that it’s not any known malware but placed in quarantined because the file came down like one.

  20. When I clicked your site from my office pc yesterday, a warning that your site is blocked by our system admin appeared because of “malicious content”. Ack!

    Wow, you got “PUNKED”, MM!
That can only mean you are “major-major”.

    *:)

  21. Oops i posted a comment on the wrong post! Haha! I meant congrats on losing so much poundage…

Many blogsites seem to be experiencing technical difficulties… Wonder why sabay sabay

  22. Hi Marketman!

Could you tell me where you bought the terracotta tiles you featured in one of your articles? I would love to have some in my house.
