The Market Manila “Eyeball” is on November 20th, Sunday!

The Market Manila Lunch or “Eyeball” is confirmed. It is on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 12 noon sharp. At Galileo Enoteca, 80 Calbayog cor. Malinao Street (near Libertad), Mandaluyong, Metro Manila. Their telephone number is 534-4633 if you need to get more detailed directions. The cost will be PHP500 per person. Though their standard lunch is just PHP 350, I would like to add different cheeses, olives, anchovies and other cold cuts and perhaps a dessert to the menu to ensure that we leave completely sated. Marketman has booked nearly the entire restaurant and I have a maximum of 50 spaces for lunch. If you can come, please send me an email by Wednesday noon Manila time (not just a comment on this post) to say that you are confirming your attendance, give your name or pen name, and an email address so that I can confirm that you are on the list of 50 diners. Please don’t say you are coming and then don’t show up. I will respond by email that you are indeed on the list and I look forward to meeting all of you on Sunday! Thank you!!!

  1. MM, take pictures and lable them please. I hate second guessing who’s who. Could you do that for us?

Wish I could go and experience the whole sha-bang but can’t. Please do us all a favor.

  2. Grrrrr. Can’t make it. Relatives visiting my place (double grrrrr). They can’t postpone (yes, I’ve tried). I’d like to try pa naman Galileo. Sayang. Post some pics if you can.

Hope you enjoy. Pareho na ako ng iba ‘dyan. We’ll be there in spirit nalang (triple grrrr).

  6. So amusing, when I throw a party in our home, so few Filipinos ever RSVP… they are allergic or never really learned what the phrase means… but on Market Manila, you are all being so polite… heehee. Thanks, guys for the “regrets.” So far about 14 people have confirmed attendance. I’ll see what the numbers look like by Wednesday so that I can adjust the reservations at Galileo Enoteca if necessary…

  7. Thanks again for the previous post on Galileo Enoteca.

I’ve only been going through your blog the last 2 months or so and I must thank you for it.

My friends and I went there last Sunday and the experience was very full in all senses of the word.

I have a more detailed comment that I submitted under your Galileo Enoteca post. =)

  8. I really do want to go but my Mom is pressing me to attend a wedding with her. I’ll try to get out of it. It sounds wonderful! I will definitely confirm by friday.

  9. wow i really love to go mm! i’ll see if i can postpone my previous engagement… do you think there would be a second eyeball just in case?

  10. Hi suzette, no other eyeballs planned. This is a one-off event I think… just let me know at any rate…

  11. Oh, no! Waaaahh!!! I won’t be able to make it on that date, Mr. MM. My sister who’s never been home for many, many years is in town, and we’re already set to go to the province the weekend of November 19 and 20 to visit relatives we haven’t seen in ages.

I really, truly, honestly feel so bad that I won’t be able to meet you in person and share dinner with the members of MarketMan Fans Club. [pout]

Please post na lang po lots of photos.

  12. i’m just new around this site but i’d love to meet marketman in person. yes i do!! =) but i can’t go =( i have to attend this weekend thingy for school, can’t be absent for that. do post pictures… and pictures of the food! =)

  13. Sorry, I forgot it was going to be at Galileo E. For some reason I assumed it would be at the market & that I could just catch up. I probably won’t make it then. Hope there’s another one next year… Could be a nice annual thing. Sad if it’s just a one-off thing.

For those interested, mass for Jesus Armas (of Casa Armas) this Friday 5pm at the Malate Church, this time organized by his family.

  14. Market Man, this site has me determined to make a food pilgramage to the Philippines in 2006 (bear in mind that the Philippines didn’t even register on my food radar 2 months ago — ignorant me!)
If by chance you do a Market Manila Lunch next year, any chance you might post well in advance — say, 2 months? That might allow us to plan a trip around it.
Can’t wait to read about this one after the fact …
    Cheers,
    Robyn

  15. pls pretty pls. ayaw intawn. don’t let this be a one time thingee. so many of us really want to go but just can’t get out of previous engagements. i sincerely hope we can have another one next year… :-)

  17. Joey and filet minion, see you Sunday, we will be a total of 25 or so unless stragglers email in soon… Molly, stay tuned but no promises… I was supposed to remain anonymous after all… ENYA, Mandy et al who can’t make it… too bad but I completely understand…

  18. MM till now am working with my shift schedule on Sunday… can’t confirm yet :(sAd. Anyone from Pampanga? or Angeles city. If it happen i can come… dunno how to get there(HELP!! :). It’s embarrasing but i seldom go to Manila by bus.

  19. Hi Marketman,

My apologies – my sisters and in-laws just advised me this morning that they are coming to the house on Sunday to visit my Mom. Please disregard my earlier confirmation that I would attend the Sunday “Eyeball”. Will try to be there in the second EB.

    Thanks,

    Linda

  20. Hi Marketman,

I emailed you Tuesday night asking if Felipe (my boyfriend) and I could join you on Sunday for lunch. I’m the officemate of Gigi. Just wanted to make sure you got the email, as I haven’t received confirmation and, like Fillet Mignon, I desperately want to go! ;-)

  21. Katrina, I sent email confirmation, not sure what happened. Yes, there are two seats for you and boyfriend. We will be about 30 overall. Thanks.

  22. too bad mm… can’t really come this sunday… :( hope you’ll schedule another eb soon :) have fun and bon appetit!

  23. How sad :P I would go, especially considering Galileo is only 3 blocks away from where I live, but I am “disabled” at the moment. I’m preggy with my first child and on bedrest for now, in compliance with my doc’s orders. Ahhhh well!! Good thing my friend Belle is going to be there and she can tell me all about it!

  24. MM, Don’t know if there are others who also haven’t heard back about the eyeball, but in case my emails aren’t getting through, would you still have space at the event tomorrow? I haven’t gotten an email so I’m hoping posting here might work.
    Thanks.

  25. How I wish Hermie and I could make it, it’s just that my sched is full this Sunday. I wish for the success of this first meeting and I hope there is a next one.

  26. Mila, you were one of the first seats reserved. Of course you are on the list. I don’t know what happened to my email confirmation. See you Sunday. We will be about 30 in all.

  27. Would love to attend but am slow-to-warm-up (aka shy) and would probably just say my name and eat :-)
