Zubuchon Opens It’s 7th Outlet!!! :)

Our sincerest apologies to Bond. We absolutely acknowledge the 50 year old franchise as the inspiration of this promotion (Skyfall= Pricefall, 4.07 a play on 007 including the little piggy on the upper right-hand corner, and the classic camera lens framing the ad). Think of it as our way of paying homage to a movie favorite on its 50th anniversary. And we promise not to make any money out of this promotion or use the allusions to Bond again. This Sunday, at 12:01 am, Zubuchon opens the doors of its I.T. Park Cebu branch at The Walk, and we are offering a well below cost meal of 1/4 kilo of Boneless Zubuchon with two cups of rice for just PHP77 or less than $2! And with each meal, you can buy a kamias shake for just PHP7! Offer is good for the first 777 customers who show up starting at just after midnight at our I.T. Park branch only, which we hope to keep open 24 hours if customer demand is there in the wee hours of the morning. These prices are WELL BELOW COST and it’s our way to say “Thank You!” to all of the folks who have supported and dined with us over the past two years.

I have been very busy the past two weeks as we also quietly opened our new space at the domestic pre-departure area of the Mactan International Airport where you can now get simple fast meals, soups, noodles, shakes, etc. while you wait for your flight or to take on-board. I will post photos of both places once they have been fully outfitted. We rushed the airport location in order to provide food/service over the busy Holy Week period, and so signage, counters, etc. are still being fabricated as I type this. Ads will appear in three major daily newspapers in Cebu. Cut the ad out and bring it to the branch to get this fantastic deal. Please let your friends in Cebu know, and if you are in the call centers at I.T. Park, we hope this coincides with your “lunch break” in “New York, Washington, Chicago” etc. Thank you very much!

P.S. This promo has been submitted to the local approving DTI office, I just don’t have the DTI-NCR permit number as I type this. So it’s legit. And a real honest to goodness bargain.

  1. It will be the ultimate irony if the Bond studio comes after you for plagiarizing their branding… ;)

  2. Wow congratulations, MM and wow, I’m the first one to make a comment. I wish I can go to Cebu to celebrate in your new branch right now.

  3. Congrats! . Where’s the Zubi Piggy ala Bond girl? Also the Walther PPK must be tucked in somehwere . LoL

  4. CONGRATULATIONS! Yippeeee.. I will keep on dreaming of having a resto open up in Metro Manila. Wishful thinking.

  5. MM please open one here in Quezon City…….near where the heart is…near the Philippine Heart Center….truly it will be a cardiac delight! Yummmmmm

  6. congratulations! i’ll be in Cebu again next week and will check out this branch. i was at the escario branch during Holy Week–it’s near the hotel where i was staying. enjoyed the seaweed appetizers, iba shake and the lechon dishes, especially the pritchon. YUM! love the Bond-inspired promo.:p

  7. MM, I swear, if and when you start merchandising for Zubuchon, I am buying into it, bigtime. That red piggy of yours always makes me smile. Everybody join me! ZU-BU-CHON! MA-NI-LA!

  8. Nick, you are correct, as I am a stickler for these things… but hopefully this “takeoff” doesn’t offend given we have altered things so as not to confuse Bond with Roasted Pigs. :) Thanks, everyone for your kind greetings.

For those curious, here is more information on the “gun barrel sequence” and the takeoffs folks have done on it over the years…

  9. Congratulations,MM! I really have to make a special trip there just to feast on Zubuchon and everything it has to offer.

    More power to you,MM!

  10. Congratulations! I like the poster though! :) hope you’ll open one in MManila also . . .

  11. yay!!! congratulations MM!! btw, I “borrowed” the image posted above and shared it on twitter. I hope you don’t mind. :-)

  12. Wow, Cebu is so lucky! 7 branches na!

“…get simple fast meals, soups, noodles, shakes, etc. while you wait for your flight or to take on-board” –> the BEST news yet! This means my first and last Cebu meal can (and definitely will) be Zubuchon!

I can’t wait for my Cebu trip!

  13. Congrats we had zubuchon for Easter dinner in Las Pinas brought in from the Mactan airport. Hope the 8th outlet is in Metro Manila na.

  14. Kasseopeia, our little outlet is in the PRE-DEPARTURE area, so not accessible to new arrivals. But two minutes away from the airport by car/cab is our Islands Stay Hotel outlet, so you CAN have us coming and going… :)

  15. oh, wish i was there! congratulations, MM and crew, and good luck on this 7th, and on the 8th, and so on…..

  16. Still waiting for the day I can try Zubuchon. No plans of bringing it here to Manila? (pretty please? :) )

  17. Congrats!! And since I’m in Manila, Lydia’s pa rin, paksiw style, courtesy of Mang Tomas pa ang sarsa! :D

  18. Will it be possible to order here, hope they can make special arrangements for those who wants to order zubu chon…

  19. Congratulations MM!!!

Happy I was able to purchase frozen Lechon and Lechon sisig at the pre departure store during the Holy Week season at 5:30-6 in the morning. I was a bit apprehensive that I won’t be able to , since my flight out to Manila was at 7am. The store was a welcome sight after passing thru the X-ray machines. ;)

Still hoping for a Manila branch in the near future……. (Crossed fingers and toes!!!)

  20. Going back on the 3,500th post, can’t help tripping on one of the comments. I assume there is no intent to ruffle but Katrina’s assertion of a lechon source that she considers superior to Zubuchon leaves me to beg for a bit more details. Is it a personal preference for a certain local style? Or is it just a case of a local cabbage being promoted as a giant rose? I know well enough not to foment conflict by trolling on other’s comment but this inquiring busybody wants to know.

  21. Footloose, hahaha. I am sure there are LOTS of good lechons out there. Some based on taste preferences, some based on what people grew up with, some based on heart and soul of those cooking them. We often come across people who say ours isn’t salty enough, others who say its too salty, some who don’t like the rosemary and thyme we add, others who love it. Also, I find the key to a great lechon is having it HOT. Which in most cases, folks don’t have a chance to do unless they really time it right. The more good lechons, the better. But for me, just NO cup full of MSG in the belly please. You can get a great lechon without MSG, period. :)

  22. Congrats MM.. :D if you don’t mind me asking, since I think I can only remember 4 branches where are the others located?

    I know the following:
    – 1 in Mango
    – 2 in Escario
    – 1 in an Airport (i cannot even remember where.. lol)

    again, congrats.. :D

  23. galing! Maayo unta dili ko mahutdan ug sulod pa gihapon sa 777. Btw MM, congratulations natong mga advocates for RH. Tho the supreme court issued a status quo ante order, i’m confident it will uphold the constitutionality of the law. To pig and national issues.. hehehe. congratulations

  24. Yay! Glad that you opened a branch at the airport coz sometimes I have day (business) trips to Cebu from Manila and there’s no time to visit your branches for a quick meal. Now, I can enjoy your food at the airport! :) I hope you can also open a branch in Makati or Taguig. :)

  25. @Market Man, I agree, that’s why I asked. As they say with steak, you sell it with the sizzle, with a fetching narrative as it were. I imagine it served to a convivial bunch in the ambience of the special deck, the experience would be indelible.

  26. Maki, you got four right. It’s at the departure lounge of the Mactan Airport. We now serve simple meals there. Then Escario Centrale (our largest branch), Escario Express nearby but serving a more take out menu. Mango Avenue, our first restaurant. Then we also have one in Talamban, beside the University of San Carlos. And this newly opened IT Park branch, for seven outlets, though 3 are quite small… :) Technically, if you count our small garden outdoor terrace, which we offer for private events, that would be 8 locations, but the outdoor space is not that busy.

  27. Got to finally visit your mango branch last week with my family. We ordered, of course the lechon, adobong kangkong and pusit, the biko and budbud kabog. I am, though not a lechon fan, had the kangkong and pusit, less the filling. :) And enjoyed the kamias shake. The staff are very attentive. My husband commented on the prices, said that the costs and quality are better than most resort food. (We just had a very bad experience on a beach resort up at Mactan earlier in our trip.) Anyway, zubu made our day.

  28. Congratulations!!! I miss Zubuchon and Cebu. Me and my family were there last year and enjoyed the Zubuchon lechon and the kamias juice. Love it!! Can’t wait to go back next year ;-)

  29. Ohhhh, im so happy for you mr. MM.. thanks for answering my question.. :D i cannot wait to try that kimchi rice.. :D I will bring my wife in one of your restos.. :d

  30. Congratulations.. I go through Mactan Airport regularly. Definitely going to grab me some Zubuchon. Maybe even enough for Miss Money Penny as well..LOL

  31. Congratulations, MM! I am counting the weeks until summer break (11 weeks more to go) – Zubuchon is on top of my list for summer break 2013! :)

  32. Hi Mr MM,

I’ve been to Cebu twice and have always looked forwarded to eating at Zubuchon. I can sincerely say that it is the best in Cebu. I also loved the Mongo soup and the Kamias shake. I’m hoping to book a flight again this year and have my fill of the yummy lechon. :) Wish you more success.

  33. Hi Mm, do you have a venue for zubuchon service feedback that’s not facebook? I just had a off-putting experience at your airport branch 15 mins ago. Thanks.

  34. Hello! I was in Cebu a couple of weeks back. I researched for Zubuchon brances and saw in MunchPunch that you have a branch in Banilad Town Center. Inaccurate info! Maybe you can ask them to correct that?

I was supposed to go to the One Mango Mall branch but the cab driver didn’t know the place. That’s why I had him take me to Banilad instead. Hahaha nasayang ang pang taxi!

  35. Ben, I am so sorry you had a “wild goose chase”… Our Zubuchon facebook page and the Tripadvisor review page have our accurate locations. Banilad Town Center was our first outlet several years ago, and it no longer exists. Will see how to remove it from Munchpunch, though we never put it there ourselves. I hope you were able to visit one of our other outlets, or grab a fast meal at our airport departure lounge kiosk. Again, our apologies for the inconvenience, and I know the distance you traveled, it was an inconvenience.
