Zubuchon’s Official New Logo

ZUBUCHON LOGO FA HI

What do you think about Zubuchon’s official new logo? A huge thank you to SP and CR for designing this logo and getting it done in warp speed. Please let me know if it looks close to any other lechon logo or pork related venture as I wouldn’t want to unintentionally replicate someone else’s trademark… And don’t worry, we ARE registering it with the IPO office. :)

Please stay tuned for more Zubuchon developments in early December 2009. Many thanks to all of you who have tried the lechon, the crew and MM are most grateful. I was particularly heartened by several emails along these lines:

“Dear MM,

I was in cebu for a xxxxx tournament and had my wife’s driver (they still have a house in lahug) go buy some Zubuchon.

He got #18 (service numbers), (and) queued for more than an hour. i was told some 6 people with numbers had to be turned away because you ran out of Zubuchons.

The zubuchon was a special order of my father-in-law so we had to (yikes) freeze the 2 kilos we got before bringing them home to manila last monday.

I guess i emailed just to tell you that the zubuchon remained delicious!

Atty. xxxxxxxx”

And a follow up email from the same reader:

“I forgot to mention that our 90 yr old grandmother tasted the zubuchon before freezing it and she liked it so much that she wanted the driver to go back and get some more, but of course she heard the bad news that she has to wait 1 more week!…”

And I was stunned to see that a another reader determined to get some Zubuchon actually filmed and posted an 8 minute video on youtube about his two-hour long quest… Cllck this link from “marktesch” to see it (it’s a bit long, but I was pleasantly flabbergasted that anyone would do this at all!) Thank you!

P.S., the date mentioned in the video, Dec 1, is actually going to be Dec 6. But more on that later. :)

  1. That is so adorable MM! I don’t think anyone has this logo yet…the pig strut looked familiar, I guess it was a cartoon strip or a cartoon segment where the pig walks with a happy smile…
    I LOVE IT!!!

  2. The red silhoutte of the pig looks like it’s a happy and proud pig—the way it has its nose up seems “aristocratic”, hahahaha, eh? But hey, that’s how it should be; a product has to have character and the noble Zubuchon has to stand up to the competition…A Cebuana friend is travelling home next week and I’ll tell her to sample Zubuchon and if possible bring some up here in the frozen North!…Teka, naghahanap ako ng recipe para sa aking lomo ng baboy…Nasaan na nga ba iyon?

  3. A winner! How about adding some words: “I am Zubuchon and you’re not”! Or, “Eat your heart out”! That piggie has attitude!
You’re having a lot of fun with this, aren’t you? Ok, Go in front of a mirror, pinch your right cheek and say, “Don’t you ever die”!
    Dang good, MM. Dang good!

  4. oh MM i love the logo, font looks clean and very straight forward. but most of all i love the logo cos the pig looks gay (as in bayot ba dong). i loooove it! i would have drooled if the pig was pink and had glitters on it. again, i lurrv it!

  5. attitude! and you guys are going daily next month! phenomenal! waaaaay to goooo! good luck, everyone!

  6. The logo is beautiful, simply elegant yet CATCHY!!! I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a hit (just like the product it represents)!

And MM, those would look great in white T-shirts! =)

  7. Hi MM! The logo looks attractive, unique and alive. The layout of the name “Zubuchon” is contemporary, making the entire logo look “in”. Kudos!

  8. Absolutely fantastic, super duper, really great logo! I’m an officer of the local AAA club where I am and we normally do animal series for our annual sticker logo and this one could be a great one, or not, because we’re not suppose to have pigs in here. :)

  9. love the logo! and yes t-shirts!

im going to cebu in january specifically for zubuchon! :D my mom was like “you want us to go to cebu for what?!”

  10. Great logo! I like how the red gets progressively darker as it goes lower. Reminds me very much of lechon skin in that it’s not uniform in color. Perhaps I’m over thinking it…that or because I’m dreaming of some zubochon right now. ;D

  11. The red logo with the “proud” pig looks great.
(P.S. Is there anyway you can push the date to Dec.1 instead of Dec.6?
I will be in Cebu for 3 days but leaving on Dec.5 so I will miss trying the Zubuchon.)

  12. Looks like the piggy is taking a stroll, little does it know it is on it’s way to the slaughterhouse….
No, I’m not a PETA member, and I love meat. Looks good to me!

  13. Great logo, MM!
Just watched the video sitting here in rainy old Victoria drooling and feeling sorry for myself…

  14. It is a great logo MM. I like the san serif font used in Zubuchon. Will go to Cebu again in December to queue up for Zubuchon.

By the way, the Zubuchon I bought kept very well without refrigeration until dinner that Sunday last month. I brought it all the way back to Ormoc on the Supercat and surface transport to Baybay, Leyte. My husband was delighted. Thanks MM and your crew.

  15. The style and polish of the logo seems to indicate a decision to target the upper end of the market. If so, I think it works well, if not, so what?

  16. Hahaha love it. Funny how all readers have the same thought: this is a very happy pig with attitude. Looks like it’s dancing! Congratulations, MM and designers.

  17. hey, mm!

wooohoo! loveeeeee the logo! btaw- can your staff accept bulk order?
like- 5-10 lechon? how many days notice?

  18. Nayannika, thanks for that link! :) S, yes, they can now do about 5 lechons at one delivery… They need at least 2 days notice. Longer if it is for a Sunday. Thanks!

  19. Nice logo. Color red makes the lechon looks yummier even without tasting one yet. Hope we get the chance to visit cebu and taste the best lechon ever.

  20. with great logo comes great tasting lechon, wish I was there..more power Marketmanila!

  21. love the logo!! so cute!! i don’t think i will have the heart to eat the zubuchon later :(
hey MM have you tried Elar’s lechon?

  22. color is great…and the pig looks happy…dapat may tag line ka sa ilalim…”ZUBUCHON,THE NATIONAL LECHON” :)

  23. great on a shirt with the logo on the upper left hand of the wearer. then the famous words, ‘best pig ever!’ at the back. :)

  24. MM nice concept that works pretty well. The swine form says it all. hahaha no guessing game! Hope you dont mind i give some suggestions, if there’s still time for improvements. Logo would look more balanced by scaling the swine form a bit and not weigh down on the font. Doing so allows the text to “breath” and take center stage. Thus, if you need to print your logo in a larger format the swine font wont become overbearing The swine form as a distinguishing mark or handle anchors the logo as a whole. It might be better improved to put a slit where the pig’s mouth should be to represent a smile. It’s the happy attitide towards cooking good food that completes and undelines the brand identity.

Hope to get to taste your ZUBUCHON.

  25. Teresa, thanks for the comments, logo is already in motion on packaging printing, etc. You probably have no country after your name because the server that you use has blocked the location. Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions, I am glad a majority seem to like the logo… it’s very difficult to please everyone. :)

  26. I love the logo!!!

I envy those who are in Cebu. MM, are there any plans of offering Zubuchon here in Manila? =)

  27. Love the logo, looks like the pig was prancing/dancing his way to the Zubuchon spit… hehehe :D

  28. The logo reminds me of Wilbur from Charlotte’s Web, especially since the logo has the pig trotting around with it’s chin up.

  29. Cool logo I definitely vote for it … simple yet there’s a touch of class … Like the Marketman itself ;)

  30. hi MarketMan. would like to try zubuchon. can you guys send thru cargo to bacolod? i can pick it up at the airport . thanks

  31. patty – glad i’m not the only who thought that.

marketman – can we unofficially call him wilbur? or you can run a contest for a nickname of sorts.

  32. Will it be ok if the pig should be a little bit of abstact? its nice but its too bold and burning.

  33. logo’s really nice! can’t wait for zubuchon to be available here in manila.. my hubby is a huge lechon fan, im sure he’ll be drooling while waiting in line… =)

kudos to a successful venture, MM! =)

  34. I think the pig is a “she” not a “he” so Wilbur is out. And besides, I’d rather not think of Wilbur every time we deliver a lechon… :) Paolo, sorry, no out of Cebu deliveries yet…

  35. yup, the colour looks to me like the crispy skin of a perfectly roasted lechon too…logo pa lang nakakagutom na. cute n’ happy piggy, medyo snout-suplada lang. hope to taste your zubuchon someday, putting this on my things-to-do-before-i-die list.

  36. hmm…MM is in the US (are you?) I wonder what topic he’s gonna be posting soon. can’t wait :-D

  37. A pig struts to its fate head held high. :-) Good work on Zubuchon, MM! I love the logo and love the product. We ordered twice within a 10-day span. And as if my cholesterol count wasn’t way off whack yet, we already have one on order for Christmas.

Wilbur of Charlotte’s Web or not, Zubuchon is still “Some Pig!”

  38. sorry to be the party pooper but. the logo seems boring and doesnt reflect or show the strengths of your product. the logo seems more appropriate for a pig farm or meatshop.

  39. Love the logo. I tried zubuchon after reading about it in CDN. I was #50 and they can only serve until #20. I was told to come the following Sunday and they will give me complimentary half kilo of the delicious zubuchon. I went back the following Sunday ( I was no #1 because I arrived there at 8AM) to buy a kilo and claim the free half kilo. Sooooo loved the lechon so much. BTW, I dragged an officemate to the stall in BTC and he too loved the lechon and we can’t stop bragging to our officemates just how good zubuchon tastes. I also texted my brother, a pilot based in manila, and he was asking me where he can buy zubuchon. It’s good that its now available at the Mactan Airport. Can’t forget the lingering yet not overpowering aroma and taste of spices. It’s not salty compared to other cebu lechon.

My daughter also loved the zubuchon sisig.

  40. ibai, thank you for your kind comments. I am so glad you came back the following week and I apologize again for being unable to serve all customers the day the article in the Cebu Daily News came out. There was such a crush of buyers we couldn’t cook enough… Thank you also for letting your friends know about Zubuchon. :)

  41. hi MM! i saw my travel blog show at ANC and they featured Zubuchon. nakakagutom! i hope you’ll bring Zubuchon in Manila soon. More power to you and your crew.

  42. Geff Chang, THANK YOU very much for your comment. Yes, we have copyrighted the logo and it is registered and approved by the proper government authorities along with the name ZUBUCHON and the gradiations in red color on the pig. Copying of logos appears to be rampant and this is the SECOND instance or occurrence, see this post here and follow-up post here, if curious. Will have the lawyers call the chicharon maker on Monday. Many thanks for the heads up. I really appreciate it.
